The Milky Way is the home galaxy of Earth, as well as the entire solar system. It contains around 200-400 billion stars and is estimated to have at least 50 billion planets, 500 million of which could be habitable. What’s even more astonishing is that the Milky Way is only one of around 200 billion galaxies in the observable universe.
In this collection, we showcase astronomical photographers who have taken extraordinary photos of our galaxy. Using long exposure photography and other photographic techniques, they give us a small peek at just how big our universe really is…
